An aberrant spacetime phenomenon, rifts are holes in the fabric of the multiverse that can deposit you gods only know where. They are usually blue, swirly, and make a "shoop" noise. Not always, though. Rifts that take you off of Kaerwyn are known as leaps. Thus far, the only means of your average mortal controlling a rift is by using the arcane machinery of the Rifting Device.
