Genesis 6:1-4
When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years."
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

The Giant's Playground universe exists as one of many parallel Earths in the infinite multi-verse. Though visitors from more mundane Earths might find it to be outwardly normal, the Paranormal has shaped this world and created notable differences. Major ones being that there is definite proof that there is a divine presence. Nephilim exist, in small numbers, there presence often ignored or covered up by various organizations. They are highly sought after, extremely dangerous and valuable people. Most who know consider them to be nothing more than ruthless supernatural mercenaries, assassinations, political manipulation, all carried out buy these heroes and heroines mustering divine force.
Other organizations have capitalized on gathering these people at young ages and raising them to conduct their own goals. The Holy Roman Catholic Church having the largest group of Nephilim, possessing a full contingent of 154 adult and highly trained N-operatives. This secretive group called The Knights Templar runs errands for the Holy command, they conduct exorcisms as well as often violent incursions into various 'sinful' organizations.
Vampires
These are also fairly influential beings in the GP. They range from fairly young to practically ancient, drawing power from a foul curse in there blood that reaches back millennia. They are experts in subversion, with sometimes thousands of years experience. They are insane, and their motives twisted. Only some of the more daring would deal with them, as they care nothing for others and only un-live for their own amusement and sick hunger for the living. In most respects they are completely immortal save for a few very dangerous ways to destroy them, one being exposing them to sunlight. Compared to most romanticized version of the vampire, GP vampires are more akin to ghouls than a Brams Stroker archetype.
