Neek is second-born of the esteemed Iiroz family, one of seven factions that collectively govern the Xarax-hil through an oligarchial group known as the Committee of the Seven Realms. After spending his requisite years of general and polititcal education at the Academy in Ae'Mantanakanai (Bronze Pillar), he opted to pursue his interest in the field of antiquities. From there, the Xarax-hil studied in lingustics and archeology, finishing with good marks. His popularity among his peers remained average during his Academy years, as much as one could believe one who spends more time among books than people and most of that contact with other living beings being that of his immediate family.

The life that had been laid out for him, however, wasn't one that he wished to be a part of. The seats of the Committee function under a modified form of primogeniture. The eldest child without a history of military service takes the first available seat that has been set aside for the family in question. As Neek's older brother, Oktranuath, elected to become a member of the armed forces, the second-born became next in line for the Inferior(minor) Seat of his home city-state. To counter this, the young Xarax-hil joined the archeological expeditions that took him farthest from home and away from the insistance of the administration. This continued for two years, up until the Erruxian met fate in the form of a Kaerwyn Rift.
