Frühling

Frühling (Lynx Vernalis) are a medium size humanoid feline race. Many of their physical traits are similar to Lynx or Bobcats, aesthetically speaking. They are five toed, with retractable claws and take up a digitgrade stance. Frühlings have adapted to harsh conditions on a less then pleasant alternate earth time line. They have adapted to be exceptional climbers and runners, modern Frühlings benefit from an ancestral need to escape and keep prey from larger predators, aa well as competition species. Adaptive as ever, Climate conditions and scarcity of food led to Frühlings developing robust digestive systems, able to consume just about anything remotely edible or in some cases toxic.

European Frühling

One of the many racial subtypes of Lynx Vernalis and the only type of Frühling currently seen on Kaerwyn. They are characterized by mostly orange and white patterns of fur, with vast differences in shades and coat quality. European Frühlings, usually have broad facial features, and large noses. Females typically grow larger than males, and vary from six feet up to seven on average. Males are usually somewhat shorter, ranging from five feet to six and a half feet.

North African Frühling

One of the many racial subtypes of Lynx Vernalis and not currently seen on Kaerwyn. They are characterized by mostly black and orange patterns of fur, with vast differences in shades and coat quality. North African Frühlings typically have shorter ears than their European cousins, along with a more slender nose and other facial features. Females typically grow larger than males, and vary from six feet up to seven on average. Males are usually somewhat shorter, ranging from five feet to six and a half feet.

Frühling Biology

1. Poisonous substances:
Frühlings are able to consume most anything a human can consume, with exception of some opiates and acetaminophen, which are moderately toxic. Frühlings also have very high tolerance for poisons found in wild berries and fruits, this is to an extent that they can consume them without any harm being done to their body’s systems (excess consumption will cause nausea or headaches).

2. Sex:
During the months of March and April, as well as September and October, Male Frühlings become fertile. They also start producing more male hormones than normal. Males that choose not to mate during the season are often confronted with moderate pain in the genital areas. Female Frühlings, become fertile during this period as well, and they do not cycle at any other time during the year. Females however do not feel any ill effects from the increased hormones other than a slight boon to their already high sex drive.

3. Organ Placement:
Organ configuration in a Frühling is similar to a humans. Frühlings have a four chambered heart, one stomach ect. Their esophagus is more robust than a human’s however, this enables Frühlings to consume things that a human normally wouldn’t.

4. Skeletal System:
Mostly on par with a human’s skeleton with a few exceptions. Frühlings have and extra bones in their legs that aid them in absorbing impacts, and also aids jumping and running. Frühlings also have more vertebrae than humans, allowing them more flexibility.

5. Muscle Structure:
Mostly an average Frühlings upper body strength can be compared to that of an average human’s. However, the lower body is very strong and an average Frühling could easily overpower an average human’s legs, in terms of strength. Frühlings who build themselves up can easily exceed a human’s peak in lower body strength.

6. Senses:
They have senses that are just as good as any human's. However, Frühlings don't taste sugar or sweetness the same way humans do, and all Frühlings recognize it as a bad taste.
