() Personal Information, History, Background:
”Shattered Moon” Basic Info-- After the moon shattered a thousand years ago, and rained it pieces to the planet, the race of the Krea was born (but I won’t go into them). Also, humans discovered how to use the moon to power magic. Geomancy is the ability to manipulate the minerals in an object to shape it. Alchemy is the taking of items and joining them, releasing the moon’s energy stored within. Evocation is the art of changing the moon energy of something.
Ferals were a failed attempt to force shapeshifting with Geomancy. Somehow, the subject became able to shift to a beast-like humanoid when reacting to strong emotions, normally tied to dark and dangerous ones. The focus used, a small stone talisman, joined with the subject and helped power it. The Ferals’ power comes from the strength of the moon in the sky, and they are unable to shift by emotion when there is a new moon. The fuller a moon, the more unstable their emotions and shiftings.
When a Feral draws blood, it mixes with the energy of its Feral Mark, creating small pellets in its mouth and between its claws. The next drawing of blood embeds these in the target, which gather together and form a new Mark within a week. A day later, it surfaces and transforms the person.
Lost Ferals were an attempt to create more controlled Ferals for use as stable weapons. Again, failure. Instead of being like Ferals, Lost Ferals are totally animal, with speaking, until a new moon, when they change back. They transmit the normal Feral disease.
Character Info-- Bailefour was born amid a group of wandering Moon Mages, mostly Geomancers and Alchemists. The fall of the Empire had left most Moon Mages without a proper place. Her family had a history of male firstborns, so they had already picked out a male name. Despite being female, they still named her Bailefour, and just called her Bai for short.
Bai earned her place when she took up the art of Geomancy from the others. Her creative mind could fashion intricate works of art in metal, stone, and wood. They moved from place to place about the Patchworks, selling their goods to the locals and doing their best to hide the fact that they were Moon Mages.
In her 15th year, members of the radical Sun Cult discovered them, and led an assault on their camp. Bai was forced to flee, while her family was killed. She wandered the Patchworks, identifying herself as Baile to remain safe, and continued working with metal, though she played down her skills to prevent anyone from noticing that her art seemed unnaturally formed.
Shortly after turning 17, Baile ran afoul a Corrupted Cabal. They had been experimenting with the theory of Lost Ferals, attempting to create shapeshifters with some semblance of control over themselves. Torturing the knowledge of Baile’s Geomancy out of her, they decided a Moon Mage was a good specimen.
Once again, they failed in their true goal. However, Baile was far more of a success than any other before. Thought she was a wolf, she could speak and think clearly, and by embedding moonstones—rather painfully—along her spine, they hoped she could channel a warped form of Moon Magic. She was fully aware of her curse, and could spit out a Feral Seed or dig her claws into the dirt to get rid of them. Now they just had to breed more.
Only one problem: she was a male wolf. The Cabal was stumped, until the rare new moon a year later transformed her into a human for several minutes. Jumping at the chance, they raped her. They guessed that by the time she changed back again in four years, the child would be near birthing.
Her human mind slightly damaged by this act, Bailefour the wolf took control. He tore through the Cabal, scattering them and permanently creating twin personalities within the Lost Feral. Both were fully aware at all times, but the body decided who to follow.
Though Baile was terrified of birthing a monster like herself, Bailefour, who seemed to possess all the Alchemy knowledge they had learned plus some, knew how to get rid of it when they shifted. At the next new moon, Baile drank the potion made from Bailefour’s memory, and aborted the child, though she nearly died in the attempt. Only shifting back saved her from bleeding to death.
Because both events had so scarred Baile, Bailefour was forced to keep them alive. He hunted other Ferals and Corrupted. Also, knowing she may need the knowledge, he forced her each new moon to work on those things that made her human, like speech and movement. He is truly the dominant mind currently, but hopes that one day Baile will regain control. His only true fear is that she may give up, and leave him all alone.
Baile, due to lack of use, has lost what Geomantic magics she once used. Because relearning them would take a least a full year, the chances of getting them back are extremely slim.
Bailefour was running down a Feral when he went through a rift and straight into a tree. He was so dazed he’d probably attack the first non-human he met. . .
Following Asylum Leap, she has had her personalities fused, for her own good.
Thanks to the well-repayed Adela, Baile has changed her "beast" form of the male wolf permanently into a female human, locking her shape for all phases of the moon. She is still cursed with bearing and passing the Feralism Curse, and can lose her human mind if she loses her Mark.
() How He/She Arrived on Kaerwyn: Ran through a rift into a tree.
() Fast Healing: If damaged by stone weapon, heals at normal rate, regenerates as per no moon.
() Magical/Psychokinetic/pathic Abilities: While Baile did have magics at one point, she has lost them to disuse and the trauma of what she went through losing her family and being shifted, etc. The chance of regaining them is almost nil.
- Feralism:
- Feralism is spread by the injection of Feral Seeds into a subject's bloodstream. These Seeds, which are a little larger than grains of rice, are formed when the blood of a creature gets either on a Feral's claws or in its mouth. This triggers the brief formation of Seeds tied specifically to the creature whose blood was used. They last a short time outside blood (mere moments, really), and only affect the target creature (blooded).
- When Seeds enter the bloodstream, they flow to and gather in two places. The first, and where the majority go, is a random major organ in the torso to form a Feral Mark. This takes a week, and after 2 days can be felt. The second place is at the brain stem, where for a week they slowly damage the target's emotional control.
The Seeds can be purged as any poison within the first 3 days. After that and before the week is up, they must be physically removed and purged.
- At the end of the week, the person becomes a Feral. Emotional control is based inversely on the moon's phase, where less moon means more control. Under high emotional stress (easy with low control), they shift into a half-beast form based loosely on whatever animal they relate to. While shifted, they can pass Feralism. Feral's in beast form tend to be stuck on anger and hatred, and attack anything they can. They can be forced back with calming effects, or after 1 hour of solitude/restraint.
() Number and Description of Weaponry and Training:
- Switchblade
- Physical Description : A simple black handled switchblade, about 3" long and with a spring blade.
- Other :
- Training : 1 month training by Sarah
() Special Skills:
- Geomancy: Knowledge similar to geology. Though once she knew the magics of it, disuse has taken them from her.
- Alchemy: Minor knowledge of how to mix objects on homeworld to generate certain affects. The potion made is a fairly common one there. Again, this is mearly knowledge. Baile never progressed beyond the most basic learning, so never learned the actual magics of it.
- Pottery: Following Endymion's Art class that asked them to work with clays, she's had a revived interest in pottery, an old hobby and skill of her's. She's rapidly relearning.
() Inventory:
- Small handmirror
- Feral Mark: if not touching the mark, Baile becomes wolf without speech or spells, and slowly loses human side as time passes. The Feral Mark is the easiest way to kill Bailefour. Though Hardened several times, a direct blow with a sword, or a single bullet, would be enough to break it. When destroyed, a violent wind sucks air into it, then explodes in a concussion to 5’. If in Bailefour’s throat at the time, blast will knock back and unconscious, and leave a gaping hole in neck. The loss of fast healing means this will most likely kill him quickly. It must break to cause this affect. If only damaged, it will repair fully within 24 hrs so long as a moon is present, or at the start of the next moon.
- Moonstone Charm: a 1/2" diameter moonstone on a single strand silver chain, it forms a loop at one end for the moonstone to pass through and hold to the wrist.
