**Leap (2214)**
Mahdis, Baile, Brielle, Turt, and Anne appeared in the teleportation area of the Asylum's entry field, to be rapidly captured by the forces stationed there for defense. Mahdis (by shape), Anne (guantlet), and Turt (race) were all taken to a holding cell in the Labs for Touka to take a look at them, while Baile and Bri were both taken to the Mental Health Facility for pre-screening, as both showed signs of mental stress. After questioning, Touka was willing to give up Anne and Turt to the Mental Health due to their actions.
Mahdis, on the other hand, got to meet a very insane Lucifer. They hit it off quite well (it being each other, repeatedly...). However, Lucifer was going to be terminated as a failure, and Touka wanted Mahdis to replace him as his pet project. While the others were receiving some mental treatment (primarily Baile and Bri), Touka tried to artificially impregnate Mahdis several times. Each time her body rejected it bloodily, till she harmed herself in order to abort it. However, in doing so she gained herself a moment's respite, not realizing that it HAD worked that time, and her body eventually would regenerate the child. She also didn't realize that it was using Lucifer's genetics as a donor.
In the end, Olivia was pushed to the brink by what Touka was doing and staged a mass escape, letting Mahdis and Lucifer kill Touka (though he killed himself in the end), and releasing Dreadnaught to tear the facility to pieces. As the group ran for the teleporters, the rifts grabbed them back up and took them home.
**Post-leap**
The Class 2 Docking station orbiting Asylum was completely unprepared for the massive influx of inmates, and during the confusion of the combat that exploded, many people were able to steal vessels and escape, Olivia and Lucifer among them. The UG didn't show up to settle the chaos until a few days later, when they declared the station a lost cause to dangerous criminals and had it destroyed. After a disasterous attempt to retake the planet from Dreadnaught and his enslaved army, the UG determined the planet was also a lost cause. However, military strategists reasoned that Dreadnaught could have a use someday, and so the sector was merely quarentined off with a military outpost in orbit.

**Advent of the Space Age**
In the year 2098, following several devastating religious wars and a brief rise of Imperialism by several countries, the European Union banded together with Japan and the United States on a manifesto to "unite the world under one government". World War III, it could've been called, but it was more of a scuffle; the combined might of those nations was more than enough to handle the others, and developments in missile defense by the United States had rendered the use of nuclear weapons impossible. By 2102, all the world was unified under the United Government of Earth.
Finally having access to all technologies and resources, a concerted effort to effectively begin exploring the solar system was founded in the Space Expeditionary Force (SEF), a wing of the military given over solely to developing for space travel and defense (as people firmly believed there were others out there that were hostile). Thanks to the UGE, SEF was able to rapidly turn out advancements in the field, and by 2110 the first terraforming colony was established on Mars. In the year 2115, gravity manipulation became available for space stations in the form of CFM (centrifugal force manipulation) using Type I Ring stations.
**First Contact**
It wasn't until 2150 that contact with an alien species was made. A colony ship, its passengers in hibernation except for the genetically modified pilot, passed Neptune and nearly collided with an alien exploration vessel. All seemed well up until they were escorted to meet with the UGE leaders. At this point, realizing that the explorer's had lost communication with home awhile ago, they captured them and were able to reverse engineer their FTL systems. When next they encountered that race, the crew of that ship was reported lost in the Asteroid Belt, where they had found the ship.
**Galactic Imperialism**
With FTL travel at their fingertips, the United Government expanded their control. Over the next 50 years they grabbed up every planet they could reach and claim for themselves, conquered aliens they could, made treaties with those they couldn't, and generally took control of "their" galaxy. In every instance, they advanced themselves, and the homeworld was always researching...
In 2203, the UG realized it needed a more secluded location for its controversial experiments. So it combined the need for a maximum security prison, an isolated mental hospital, and a new lab into: the Asylum. Constructed on a remote world that required Domes to survive on, the Asylum was to be one of their new homes of research and testing. A terraforming project was started on the planet as well, just in case they needed more of it later.

**Pre-leap**
Dr. Kanida Touka was the UG's chief researcher and doctor on Asylum, a psychic born on a remote colony who had become that colony's most successful medical practitioner. When offered the chance by the UG, he jumped at it and pushed the Asylum into full swing. Touka's focus was the creation of supersoldiers, after a chance encounter by UG explorers stumbled upon a hostile race guarding the last quadrant of the galaxy. Unlike most before him, Touka did not believe humans had the true potential to be successful as empowered soldiers. He made monsters.
Dr. Olivia Gordon came to the Asylum not too long after, as a primary psychiatric caregiver to the Mental Health Facility. However, Touka snatched up her assistance rapidly for help with his mentally unstable subjects, not the least of which was another new arrive, one Lucifer Rocian.
